Phiona Nampungu is BIC’s Africa Coordinator. Phiona joined BIC in 2012, initially as a research consultant with the East Africa program. At BIC, she monitors projects funded by the African Development Bank and the World Bank with a specific focus on child rights, stakeholder engagement, transparency and information disclosure, and accountability. Phiona is an active member of the AfDB CSO Working group- a coalition of regional and international organizations working to influence AfDB operations and has helped expand civil society engagement at AfDB.
Prior to joining BIC, Phiona worked with Voluntary Action for Development, Interned for Action Aid and The Aids Support Organisation. Phiona received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration from Makerere University, and a master’s degree in Development and Emergency Practice from Oxford Brookes University.
