Moussa Elimane joined the Bank information Center as our West Africa Regional Coordinator in October 2023, to provide guidance and support to BIC’s network of civil society partners in West Africa on issues related to MDB-funded development projects, and to convene and coordinate amongst these groups to participate in MDB policy reviews. He also supports BIC’s program of work targeting the African Development Bank.
Prior to joining BIC, Moussa Elimane worked for ICRC, European Union and United Nation as humanitarian & development expert. Moussa Elimane is also a climate activist, with an unwavering commitment to addressing the pressing challenges posed by climate change. In 2012, he co-founded the Mauritanian Youth Climate Movement, a grassroots movement dedicated to advancing climate awareness and action across Mauritania, the Sahel, and the Arab region. He has emerged as a passionate advocate, dedicated researcher, and influential voice for sustainable practices and policies in Mauritania and beyond. He later joined the Board of Directors of the Climate Action Network International serving a two year term that ended in 2020 and then led the Mena Region CAN Node.
Moussa Elimane holds a Master Degree on International Relations from Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakesh and DEA of Public Law from Gaston Berger University of Saint Louis. His Master's and DEA (Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies) theses focused on the impact of water management on international relations. He speaks fluently French and English, with good command in Arabic and other dialects from the West Africa region.
