The Coastline Transnational Highway project, also known as the East African Coastal Corridor Development Project, is financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the European Union, and the governments of Kenya and Tanzania. According to the Project Appraisal Report, the project’s development objective is to boost regional integration, cross-border trade, tourism, and socio-economic development, as well as to improve road transport infrastructure along the Kenya and Tanzania coastlines, particularly between Mombasa and Bagamoyo.
BIC has partnered with Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development (CCGD) to monitor the design and implementation of the project in relation to child labor, child SEA/H, stakeholder engagement, and information disclosure.
