Brian is a Research Associate at BIC where he analyzes the policies and projects of international financial institutions as they relate to land-use and human rights. Brian’s background is in climate change, environmental governance, and international political economy with a special focus on Asia. Prior to joining BIC, Brian worked as a consultant in the private sector, and as a researcher and technical advisor for a number of internationally-recognized organizations including the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the Consortium for Science, Policy & Outcomes (CSPO). Brian has taught climate change and international relations at the university level, and has given talks around the world on adaptation, governance, and global affairs. His work has been published in the popular press and in leading academic journals. He speaks Spanish.
Brian received his Master of Science in Geography from the University of Oxford, and holds a B.Sc. in Political Science from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University.
